Find or Be A
Candidate
In 2020, the GOP candidate for Sheriff of Cheshire County, NH was Aria DiMezzo, A biological man who describes himself as a “transsexual Satanist anarchist” and whose campaign slogan running for sheriff in Cheshire County, New Hampshire, was “f—k the police. Thankfully, s/he lost. But the point is two-fold : Republicans lost the race because they put up a really, really bad candidate, and by default they effectively gave the seat to a Democrat. We truly need to do better, folks.
It's one thing to put forth a candidate for political office. It is quite another to put forth a candidate who will represent you as you want him or her to do; one whose core beliefs are similar to yours; someone you can trust to not become compromised or corrupted by power. Someone with integrity, and is honest and loyal.
In seeking out candidates to support, we must vet them carefully, thoroughly. If they have baggage, or skeltons in the closet they first need to admit them up front and be humble enough to seek forgiveness before an opponent or the media learns of it. He or she needs to start with a clean slate, particularly in this era of cancel culture.
Prospective candidates must also be intelligent, charismatic in a sincere way, have a positive attitude and should have a great sense of humor. They should also be good speakers. This is asking a lot, to be sure, but those are the kind of people we will need if we are to win. Research potential candidates fully, and the people doing the research would ideally not be personal friends, to avoid bias and conflicts of interest.
In any instance where more than one person intends to run for any office, we need to conduct events where the public can meet and greet them, ask them questions, learn about them. Then, much like an Iowa caucus, invite the attendees to "vote" on which candidate they would most likely be willing to vote for.
As a side note, we must make certain that no political seat goes uncontested. There are numerous instances where very bad people have been elected with less than 1% of the vote because they ran unopposed. In fact, there are three Democrat representatives seated in the House right now who ran uncontested - the GOP did not even offer a candidate, and in two of those races the Democrat won with less than 1%. That is unacceptable. Do NOT allow any race to be uncontested.
